§ 10-101. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except when the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Fence means a structure of sufficient height, strength and substance to block the view of the contents of one of the yards defined herein from public streets, highways and adjacent residential and commercial areas.

    Greenbelt means a barrier of trees, shrubbery or other vegetation of sufficient height and density to block the view of the contents of one of the yards defined herein from public streets, highways and adjacent residential and commercial areas.

    Junk means any motor vehicle, machine, appliance, scrap metal or other scrap material that is in a condition which prevents its use for the purpose for which it was originally manufactured.

    Junkyard, salvage yard or used auto yard means the use of any space, whether inside or outside a building for the storage, keeping, salvage or sale, buying, exchange, bailing or cleaning of junk, scrap, salvage or discarded metals, building materials, paper, textiles, used plumbing fixtures, used vehicles or equipment, used or pre-owned mobile homes, waste or other scrap materials, including the dismantling, demolition or abandonment of one or more automobiles or other vehicles or machinery or parts thereof.

    Wrecked vehicle compound means a place of storage of disabled motor vehicles which do not meet the definition of "junk" and which are being stored for the purpose of repairs and/or restoration to the purpose for which they were manufactured.
